Dear Brothers & Sisters,
I had just returned home safely from Shenzhen yesterday. I am so happy and excited indeed that I want to tell to our family members that I have found our family root in Shenzhen and that I was able to meet our three closed family members during the World Yap Genealogy Editorial Meeting held at East Lake Hotel Convention Centre in Shenzhen on 28th November 2008.
They are Capitan Ip Chau Ping from Lin Ma Hang Village, New Territory; Dr Ip Wai Cheung from Hong Kong and Yap Zhi Guang from Luo Hu, Shenzhen
Capitan Ip Chau Ping is a very active and well known community leader in Lin Ma Hang who served in many top positions in the village community and memorial services, gold trade associate and also Hong Kong New Territory temple committee member.
Dr Ip Wai Cheung who is a Professor in Applied Mathematics lecturing in Polytechnic University in Kowloon, Hong Kong. According to him, he used to travel oversea in his educational works and had been to KK before.
Yap Zhi Guang who is doing his own business. His company is called Shenzhen Lian Tang Limited Company, a corporative company supported by the community in Lian Tang. Presently, he is a Director cum Deputy General Manager.
According word from the three of them, two of them are the same hierarchy or level with me which we are able to know from the Chinese name middle word "Miao", and one of them I have to call him Shu Gong who is same level as our grandfather. All three of them can speak Hakka very well; it is 100% the slang that sounds the same as KK Hakka.
How I get to know them? All three of them were introduced to me in the convention by our World Yap Genealogy Editorial Chairman Mr. Sunny Yip who is a prominent philanthropist and businessman in Hong Kong & China. In fact it was his very kind invitation which enable me to attend this great convention and get together as a family. Not to forget also, it was Pastor John Yap from Perth, Australia who first brought the good news to KK two months ago. In fact it was through his great effort that I was able to know the Chairman Mr. Sunny Yip
Both of their grand fathers are from Da Peng Shan Village at Shenzhen side which is not far from our grand father's place Lin Ma Hang Village at New Territory. The two places are nearby the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. You can search these places in the internet by google earth, please go into http://earth.google.com/  and download the website.
Please view pictures in the attachment.

That is all I can tell you for the time being, and I will continue writing to you all again when I have more free times.

Dear Joseph,

I was equally excited as you were in our recent trip to Shenzhen. Thank God for the privilege and opportunity to be able to attend at the meeting of the compilation of Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy (Perhaps for uniformity we may adopt common terminology to avoid confusion and to make common expression). Ye is the Pu tung Hua (common spelling) for all dialectic forms of Yap, Yapp, Yip, Ip, Yeh, Yiap etc. is the regular form of modern simplified .

It is so wonderful to meet all the kindred mention in your email, particularly Dr. Ip who is my mate at school days thirty eight years ago in Hong Kong. We were so pleased for the reunion. I am very grateful for all the representatives who come from Sabah. I trust that all of you will be obliged and privileged to take the initiative to campaign for this movement, and the magnificent task of compiling the Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy. I sincerely hope that you will pass information to our Ye clanmen in Brunei. I should be most obliged if you would make a visit to Kuching to meet the kindred at this capital city of Sarawak. Surely, you would be recorded as the convener for these Borneo states. Perhaps, you can find some Ye/Yap at Pontianak!!!

I really appreciate your zeal at writing this email at early hours of the day!!! I hope to email to you some translation I have done while on the plane returning to Perth. Hope This will help to give information to those who are English educated.

Bye for the time being.

With best regards

John Yapp

This is an editorial letter to inform all Ye Kindred within and without China concerning the compilation of Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy which shall be a classical edition of Ye Family Treasure, a task of pivotal significant that yields invaluable ethnic value and be held in esteem from generation to generation.”

To All the Beloved Ye Kindred all over the World:

Ever since our Patriarch Zhu Liang Gong was bestowed the County Ye in Henan Province as a territory for abode and subsistence, the descendants inherited Ye as surname for over 2,500 years. Today, Ye Shi (people of surname Ye, Ip, Yap, Yapp, Yeh, Yip etc) have been fruitful and multiplied residing over 48 countries and no less than 10 millions in China. Ye have become one of the prominent tribes in China, remains as one of the outstanding members of Zhong Hua Min Zu (Chinese).

Genealogy is held in high esteem as family treasure by the Chinese. According to preserved records Wang Gong (Patriarch Wang) of the Han Dynasty was the pioneer of Ye Shi Genealogy. Unfortunately his work became lost. Since the Tang Dynasty there are no less than a thousand editions of genealogy compiled by our fore fathers down the centuries. Nonetheless, there is no single edition that has been deemed as authoritative. Indeed, we should feel sorry about it. The leaders of recent history, such as, Sun Yet Son, Mao Ze Dong, Deng Xiao Ping, Jiang Ze Min, believe that Genealogy plays important roles in uniting and maintaining family, tribal as well as national unity and harmony.

Hence, the International Friendship Association of Ye decides to compile an edition of Genealogy that will abridge ancient and modern,

Past and present of the Ye People throughout the world. This Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy has been the wishes of the Ye Shi down the centuries and generations.

The Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy shall be the most gigantic and significant cultural enterprise to be undertaken ever since the Surname Ye has been awarded to our Patriarch. Now, one of our prominent kindred, the Chairman of Hong Kong Sunny Group Limited, and Chairman of China Enterprise Fund Management Limited Mr. Sunny Yip (Ye Sau Fu) has kindly donated $2 Million Ren Ming Pi to initiate this task. On 24-27 August, 2008 the International friendship Association of Ye convened at Shenzhen to establish an editorial committee. The conference elected Mr. Sunny Yip to be the chairman of this editorial Board.

The International Friendship Association of Ye hereby, solemnly appeals to all the Ye Kindred throughout the world to participate without reserve this unprecedented and memorable project by offering one’s own genealogy, energy, and wealth. We sincerely hope that our Kindred will support and take part wholeheartedly this magnificent task which helps to honor and commemorate our ancestors, trace and record our roots, preserve our history, to educate and enlighten our off springs. This is a task which holds historical values and will benefit forever and ever our children and children’s children in generations to come.

If you take part in the compilation of our worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy…. if the names of your family members and yourself are recorded in the Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy…. a thousand years may lapse, you can still breath with your off springs and share this common “spiritual space”, the Worldwide Ye Shi Genealogy and maintain a mutual dialogue.
